The Wales Road Trip II

August 2021
Project Description

I didn't realise the amount of content I actually captured this time around while we visited Wales. I think I spent so long researching all the places to visit and setting challenges for us I forgot I was capturing it all along the way. This trip made me realise to pay attention more to what i was shooting as there were certainly a lot of discarded photos but also it did present a more on the go style of shooting allowing us to capture more fleeting moments, which works, however next time it would be a case of finding that sweet spot of being present and taking it all in while also getting the imagery i set out to capture.

First challenge we had set ourselves which is my favourite memory to date was Climbing Pen-Y-Fan for sunrise on the first night. Whcih meant driving 5 hours from the South East through the night to get to Brecon Beacons for 4AM and right away setting off, making friends with the wild horses along the way. While the sunrise wasnt the most stunning and there was a lot of grey we still felt like we had accomplished something and it set the trip off on the right foot.

Other challenges and adventures included things like, hiking around cwmorthin waterfall and slate mine ruins, chasing cloud inversions on the last day and visiting Anglesey's stunning Newborough forest for sunset.
